Our Planet, Our Land, Our Livestock

The Kathmandu Declaration was developed at the Global Gathering of Pastoralist Women, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 26 to 29 May 2026. It sets out the shared priorities of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist women from around the world, including land and mobility rights, climate justice, education, safety and representation. Pastoralist women and their representatives from every region of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP 2026) endorsed it on 8 August 2026. It is a living document that will keep evolving.

The Dana Declaration on Mobile Peoples and Conservation forges a new partnership between conservationists, ecologists, development practitioners and mobile peoples. Its aim is to ensure future conservation and development policies help maintain the earth’s ecosystems, species and genetic diversity while respecting the rights of mobile indigenous and traditional communities, which have been disregarded in the past.
